Defending V8 Supercar Champions TeamVodafone focused on strategy over speed in today's V8 Supercar practice sessions at the Sucrogen Townsville 400 with Jamie Whincup finishing the day fourth fastest while Craig Lowndes was tenth overall.
Quick out of the box in the third practice session, the reigning V8 Supercar Champion utilised today's time behind the wheel to perfect the setup strategy on the Holden. Whincup ran on used soft compound tyres for both sessions and posting the quickest time in Practice 3.
The TeamVodafone driver was fourth in the final practice session and on combined times ended the day fourth overall.
Adopting the same practice strategy as his teammate, Lowndes finished the third session sixth and was tenth in the final session.
Both of TeamVodafone's endurance co-drivers were on track for the opening two sessions Paul Dumbrell set the ninth-fastest time in practice one before improving to fourth in the second session.
Lowndes' co-driver Warren Luff set the 10th and 7th quickest times respectively.
