Golf.com’s Connel Barrett interviews Golf Channel’s Brandel Chamblee and talks about, among other things, “Tiger’s fatal swing flaw”. Also described as “Tiger’s Achilles Heel”
Ho hum! Just another dissertation about Tiger’s swing-Not really because there are some interesting facts presented by Chamblee which makes for interesting reading
Chamblee said, “People point to his driving as having improved, but it hasn't, if you compare him to 2000. He hits his tee shots better, but his driver is not better than it was in 2000. Not by a long shot. The stats are misleading, because Tiger's hitting more 3-woods and irons off the tee, which helps his accuracy numbers. With his driver, he hits less than half his fairways. I've checked it on ShotLink.”
The most thought-provoking part of the interview comes when Connel Barrett says, “At a PGA Championship press conference this year, I asked Tiger who would win if he played his year 2000 self in a match. He said that 2009 Tiger would win because he's learned how to get the ball in the hole.”
Chamblee who doesn’t come in first as Mr Nice Guy golf commentator said, “How could he [Tiger] honestly say that he's better today in majors than in 2000? Does he think he'll go out and beat the guy who won at Pebble by 15 shots? [Today] he comes in after a round and says he's winning more, that his swing is better—but he's not winning more in majors. From the '99 PGA to the '02 U.S. Open, he won 7 of 11 majors. He doesn't win that often now.”
So there you have it. A conversation starter with fellow golfers. Would Tiger 2009 beat Tiger 2000?

And should Tiger 2010 fall on hard times it’s good to know his wife Elin can help him out. At long last justice has been served, Elin has just won her case; $US 183,250 and an apology from The Dubliner for publishing an abusive article and faked nude photo of her.
Brent Read at The Australian has been talking to Jack Newton about Adam Scott.
Jack said, “I don't know what it is but I would suggest it is not in his golf swing…He was always thought to have a better swing than Tiger. I always thought he did. It's his putting that's letting him down from what I can see and then that puts pressure on your short game and chipping.”
"He just needs to improve it 5-10 per cent and he's the number one or two player in the world. The big risk is ... is he still hungry?
Ah yes, is he still hungry? Now that sounds kinda familiar since just today after golf the lads were talking about an article at Stuff. Greg Ford of the Sunday Star Times talking to Frank Nobilo, who unbeknown to me has on occasion been labeled with a caustic, Chamblee-like reputation.
Greg writes, “Honest Frank doesn't mind venturing where others fear to tread. His take on Michael Campbell's nosediving career is a good example. Nobilo believes Campbell has lost his desire for the game.”
"I saw him very very briefly at the [US] PGA when he had to withdraw," he said. "He seems to be in a different place. His family is grown up, he has won a major championship. Maybe deep down he has achieved a lot of the things he set out to achieve, and the desire isn't there anymore."

With thoughts of this Saturday's first round of my club's matchplay championships.
My thought for the day comes from Bobby Jones.
"If you keep shooting par at them, they all crack sooner or later."
