Winther Stays Fifth With A Day To Go In French Sailing

Wellington, April 30 NZPA - New Zealand's Sara Winther remains fifth in the Laser Radial standings at the French Olympic sailing week regatta at Hyeres and will need a strong showing on the final day tomorrow to chase down a podium finish.

In racing overnight, Winther finished 22nd, third and eighth leaving her needing at least 10 points from racing tomorrow to contend for a medal.

In the women's 470 class, Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie have shot up the board into seventh from 17th but have only an outside chance of finishing in the medals.

Four races for the Laser sailors overnight resulted in more shuffling on the leaderboard with three of the six New Zealand entries making the gold fleet.
