Sometime in the last few weeks it seems like YouTube turned into www.SusanBoyle.com.  But if you can spare a moment from your 15th viewing of the "Susan Boyle Britain's Got Talent Video" there is much more that you can do with YouTube.  Create files, create ringtones and add your own captions and words - a ton of ways to make YouTube even more fun that it already is.

You can find lots of great videos on YouTube, but all too often you don't have enough time in front of the computer.   ListenToYouTube allows you to save the audio portion of YouTube videos so you can load it on your MP3 player to listen to at a later date.  Sure YouTube is well known for funny videos and Susan Boyle videos, but it also has interesting presentations, small garage bands and other things that could easily be enjoyed audio-only.  ListenToYouTube is an amazingly simple web-based application that pulls the audio out of a YouTube video and creates an MP3 file.  As if easy was not enough - it's also free. To create an MP3 from a YouTube video all you do is go to the ListenToYouTube site, plug in the URL for the video and download the MP3.

If you do have time and you are creative, than skip ListenToYouTube and click on over to Overstream.  What Overstream allows you to do is customize a YouTube video by adding your own comments or subtitles in any language.  First you create and synchronize your subtitles to any a YouTube video, then you can store the resulting video on the Overstream server and then you can send the link to the subtitled video overstream to your friends.  Check out these sample Overstreams - you'll see that it is kind of like adding your own subtitles to a bad 1950's science fiction movie.

If you want to take some of your YouTube Videos or even your custom designed Overstreams along with you, then check out The Ringtone Maker.  This is a desktop application (so you have to download and install it on your computer) that you to take videos and songs, customize them and have download them to your mobile phone as a ringtone. The Ringtone Maker is compatible with phones from: Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and many more. There is a free version which is pretty powerful, but you can also upgrade to a paid version for even more features.

Check these out and have even more fun with YouTube!  Let us know if you like them and if you have other YouTube tools and tips than please comment and share!
