11 MAY 2009 - New Zealand motorists now have a new and highly affordable way to buy or sell their cars online thanks to the launch of www.aacarfair.co.nz

AA Web General Manager, Mark Williams, says "AA Carfair is a partnership between the AA and TraderGroup and already has more than 20,000 vehicles listed on the website, providing motorists with plenty of choice when looking for a vehicle to meet their driving needs and budget."

The website also provides valuable information about the process of buying and selling vehicles, including how to prepare the car and set a price, dealing with buyers, and the documentation that needs to be completed. AA Carfair puts motorists in touch with the AA's Technical Advice team, should they feel the need to speak to a seasoned and knowledgeable person about the buying and selling process. Visitors to the website will also have easy access to a whole range of AA services, including vehicle valuation, vehicle history, vehicle inspection, car loans and car insurance.

"We set out to create a high quality one-stop shop for everyone interested in, or wanting to buy and sell, cars," says Mr Williams.

"AA Carfair will be free for the entire month of May for people listing cars for sale privately, and from 1 June it will cost only $9.95 to list on the website. Competing websites charge as much as $39 for the same service, so AA Carfair really is a highly affordable way to sell your car."

The AA's partnership with Autotrader means anyone listing their vehicles for sale on AA Carfair will also receive a free listing on the Autotrader website.

Adrian Pickstock of Autotrader says "we are very excited to be working with the AA on this initiative, with the sole purpose of being able to give car buyers and sellers more choice within the marketplace."

Mr Williams says "although the car market is suffering the effects of the economic downturn, motorists still need to travel to work, take the kids to school and get out on weekends, and many will still want or need to change their car. These motorists will no doubt welcome the ease and affordability of AA Carfair."

"Initial feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are already working on several ideas to make the website even more interactive and fun to use," concludes Mr Williams.
