iPhone 4 New Zealand Launch Date Confirmed

The Apple iPhone 4 will be available in New Zealand from 30 July.  Apple had previously announced that the smart phone would be available in New Zealand by the end of July.

Apple and local reseller Vodafone are yet release New Zealand pricing for the popular smartphone, which has sold more than three million units since its U.S launch on 24 June.

While issues with the antenna of the iPhone 4 have been widely reported, Apple announced yesterday that:

- Only 0.55% of owners had called Apple Care reporting antenna related issues;

- Return rates for the iPhone 4 through Apple's largest reseller (AT&T) are running at less than a third of those  for the iPhone 3GS;

- Call drop outs per 100 calls vary by less than one, between the iPhone 4 and 3GS.

As a result of the issues reported with the antenna, Apple is offering all people that currently own an iPhone 4 and those that buy the phone between now and 30 September, a free case to help protect the antenna.
