Are "you talkin' to me" or maybe thinking "I'll be back."  These are just two of thousands of famous movie quotes that you can now legally see for free at Movieclips.  This beta site bills itself as "a site for movie fans made by movie fans."

Sure you can find some great movie clips on YouTube, but the quality varies and the legality varies even more.  But now move fans can find 12,000 searchable movie clips and can find, view, discuss and share scenes from their favorite movies. Movieclips has gathered thousands of movie clips and makes them completely searchable by actor, title, genre, occasion, action, mood, character, theme, setting, prop, and even dialogue. This makes it simple to find a scene fast - maybe even in time to answer that nagging trivia question.

What's amazing is that Movieclips has established relationships with several movie studios to create this site.  They boast approximately 12,000 two-minute streaming clips from the libraries of 20th Century Fox, MGM, Paramount, Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures. Movieclips is no Napster fighting the music industry, but instead is an industry partner.  With Movieclips, you don't have to resort to piracy in order to find, view, and share your favorite scenes.

It's also interesting that Movieclips is worldwide. When it comes to creative content like movies and TV shows, where you live often dictates what you can watch online - but Movieclips has launched with global access. Movieclips hopes you will use the service to located favorite movies or find new favorites. For your convenience (and their ability to collect affiliate revenue) they include links with each clip to easily buy or rent the feature-length movie.

Movieclips recently announced their newest feature: Movieclips Mashup. This tool gives movie fans around the world the power to create and share their own custom mashups using the amazing and ever-growing library of movie scenes on their site.

Movieclips is in beta and is free for now. They are hoping for your participation: spread the word, give them feedback and recommend your favorite scenes. You can even legally embed the clips onto your blog and/or other sites. Movieclips is free (at least for now), legal and available worldwide - a rare partnership of big studios and the small startup.
