Remember the Milk!

What can be more fun and relaxing than heading out to the supermarket.  The lines, the prices, trying to remember all the items you need - what more could you ask for?  Well, if you are like most folks, what you could use is a darn good shopping list to make this chore just a tad bit easier.

Maybe you have a busy life, maybe you have a large household - whatever the case, remembering all the items at the supermarket seems like the impossible dream.  However, there are many new online list makers that can be grocery shopping easier.  There are general list tools that can be used for grocery shopping as well as tools that are specifically designed to save you time at the supermarket.

Remember the Milk

With Remember The Milk (RTM) you no longer have to write your to-do lists on sticky notes, whiteboards, random scraps of paper, or the back of your hand. RTM makes managing tasks a more enjoyable experience.  While not specifically about grocery shopping - as the name points out it certainly can help with your supermarket trip.

What makes RTM so useful is the integration that they have enabled.  You can email tasks to your RTM account, twitter tasks to RTM, view your tasks in a iGoogle gadget, iCal feed or Google Calendar gadget and the ability to add several options to each one of your tasks including completion time, date due and more.  They also have iPhone and Blackberry integration but that will set you back a few dollars for a year's subscription.

GroceryWiz

GroceryWiz is obviously focused on just supermarket lists - complete grovery lists not just the series of reminders like RTM.  The site is not all that fancy, but it will let you create and print a pretty decent grocery list - you can see a full video on GroceryWiz.  What I don't like is that the site is US focused.  A grocery list is a grocery list but they will constantly push you to also sign up for coupon programs (I imagine that's where they make some dough, and not the cookie kind) which only provide coupons for the US.

The Ultimatest Grocery List

This site offers grocery lists the old fashion way, a simple PDF document that you can print out.  This is a pre-formatted grocery list formatted for  8.5x11" or A4 paer that can be printed out and hung it on the refrigerator door so you can mark it up before you go to the grocery store.  The rest of this site is a voyeuristic look at grocery lists - a collection of found grocery lists. In fact, they wrote the book on found grocery lists. So far 1,900 funny, crazy, weird, sad and/or mundane discarded scraps of paper have been posted. Have a look!

Listingly

Listingly is an online list creator that lets you create lists for almost anything - but groceries are a clear focus with an auto-suggest option for your item and groups similar items together for ease of use.  All lists can be shared, printed and accessed from any computer. There are no limitations, you can create as many lists as you like. Specially remarkable is the grocery list feature which has an auto-suggest option for your item and groups similar items together for ease of use.  Listingly also has companion mobile applications (iPhone, Treo, Blackberry phones and Windows Mobile devices) that make it very simple to carry your lists wherever you shop.
