    A broad complex trough over the Tasman Sea is expected to move slowly east over New Zealand during the weekend bringing periods of heavy rain to exposed areas in the west. Rainfall accumulations may approach warning criteria, for example 70mm in 12 hours, especially about the ranges.

  • Burst of heavy rain for the South Island West Coast

    A low over the Tasman Sea is expected to approach the South Island on Saturday, then move east over the country on Sunday.

    Periods of heavy northerly rain and thunderstorms are expected on the West Coast during Saturday and Sunday.
