Nelson raised, Tokyo educated, London love just drifting around
New Zealand after thirteen years away was daunting enough. I wanted to go to Christchurch or Wellington, but my Aussie partner had other ideas…Nelson or nothing.
Trade Me, what a great website! Having just returned to New Zealand I’m still pretty new to it. I did try to use it overseas, thought I could be a bit entrepreneurial and send stuff from London to New Zealand.
Dubrovnik was magnificent, but it was time to head further south. Unaware and unprepared we were told the bus went all the way to Ulcinj, on the Albanian border.
On a trip to Croatia we decided to head off the beaten tourist path and go north. Flying into the middle (Zadar airport) for just 15 pounds helped. A friend wanted to visit the ampitheatre at Pula, so we decided to just keep on going.
Whilst bored and poor in London (frequently poor not often bored), I planned a trip to the continent. This working holiday maker was running out of time. How could I do the most possible for the least amount of money?
Golden Bay, one of New Zealand's hidden gems, pity bout that bloody long Takaka Hill (apparently New Zealand's longest) that you have to traverse over to get to it. We went last weekend and they were doing road works upon it.
Trout fishing in Nelson is one of the most ultimate angling experiences in New Zealand. The rivers are vast and plentiful, the anglers few and far between. Clear water flowing through native bush and large brown trout with golden flanks jumping and darting around.
Ahhh the age of technology, so easy. Where would we be without mobiles? Handy, nifty, little gadgets that seem to fall to the bottom of your bag and you can never find them before they finish ringing.
Travel overland, reduce your carbon footprint, sail away, blah blah jumbo jet, fuel crisis etc etc. All the cheap flights are beckoning but your conscience is disturbed – traveling is a selfish pastime.
