‘Popular baby goods retailer grows NZ footprint with opening of biggest baby store’

Specialty nursery and baby goods retailer, Baby Bunting is set to open three more stores in New Zealand by the end of 2023, following overwhelming support from Kiwis. This includes its first South Island location, which will be Aotearoa’s biggest baby store.

This comes just over a year after Baby Bunting opened its first-ever New Zealand retail store in Albany, Auckland. The Australian company is excited to now be expanding its reach in New Zealand, with three new stores offering products and services to support new and expectant parents.

In addition to two new Auckland stores, Baby Bunting is expanding into the South Island, with a 2,095m2 Christchurch store.

The three new stores, located in Auckland’s Manukau and Sylvia Park, and Addington in Christchurch, bring the convenience of Baby Bunting’s wide range of over 7,000 product lines and unique customer experience, to more Kiwis. The stores are tailored to the needs of New Zealand parents and will stock a number of locally loved products as well as New Zealand brands including Haakaa and Edwards & Co.

The stores are located in strong existing retail precincts and are set to open on the following dates:

  • November 11th, 2023 – Manukau (Manukau Supa Centre, 3/55 Lambie Drive, Manukau, Auckland)

  • December 2nd, 2023 – Sylvia Park (Sylvia Park Lifestyle Centre, 393 Mt Wellington Highway, Mt Wellington, Auckland)

  • December 9th, 2023 – Christchurch (Tower Junction, 9/66 Clarence Street, Addington, Christchurch)

“We have had an incredible response from Kiwis to our first retail store in Albany, so we’re excited to be expanding our presence in New Zealand, supporting more Kiwi parents, extending our relationships with local suppliers and creating jobs. We are very much committed to investing in New Zealand and bringing Baby Bunting’s extensive range of products and services to more parents,” says Baby Bunting CEO Mark Teperson.

“We are confident these three new stores will build on our success to date in the New Zealand market, and hopefully lead to even more brick-and-mortar sites across the country.”

The ASX-listed company currently operates 72 stores in Australia and has already established a strong presence in New Zealand with its first store in Albany.

This expansion is part of Baby Bunting’s ambition to open 10 stores across New Zealand, offering Kiwi parents a unique and comprehensive retail experience that meets the needs of local customers. The company has an already established 5,000m2 warehouse in Auckland to support local online order fulfilment, reinforcing the company’s dedication to the New Zealand market.

Baby Bunting offers an extensive range of products at great value for all price points, from entry level to premium – catering to all demographics. These include car seats, prams and nursery furniture to feeding, clothing, toys, highchairs and much more. Baby Bunting also offers Kiwi customers a Price Promise, meaning if they find a lower price at a competitor on an identical in-stock product, Baby Bunting will beat it by 5%.

The three new stores (including Sylvia Park 1,320m2 and Manukau 1,700 m2) will offer shoppers unique experiences including:

  • A professional car seat installation service

  • A product hire service

  • Gift Registry

  • Layby

  • Click & Collect with direct-to-boot collections

  • Ample parking with ‘parents with pram’ bays
