Voting open in Malvern Community Board by-elections – Selwyn District Council

Electoral Officer Anthony Morton has confirmed today that just over 6800 voter packs have been mailed to the electors enrolled in the Hawkins and Tawera subdivisions of the community board area and that residents in those areas should look out for their packs to arrive over the next four or five days.

“The voting period for council elections is relatively short so anyone in those areas who hasn’t received a voter pack by the end of the month should contact the council office on 0800 SELWYN (735 996) or the election helpline (0800 666 048) to request one.

“Alternatively, special voting papers are available from the Darfield Library or the Council Rolleston office. We’d like electors in the area to take the opportunity to read the profiles of the candidates nominated for their area and mark and return their voting papers as soon as possible,” Mr Morton said.

Voting in the by-elections is held by postal vote, and voting papers must be received by the Electoral Officer no later than 12 midday on Friday 15 December.

Voting papers can be posted at any NZ Post postbox and ballot bins are available at the

Darfield Library and the Council’s Rolleston offices.

Full information on enrolling, voting and special votes – as well as candidate profiles, ward maps and other election information – is available online at www.selwyn.govt.nz/elections.
